We're Simply Loving These Home Design Details
From the front door to the nooks and corners inside, Union Village homes are full of remarkable details.
We believe home should be a place that is functional for your family, but also beautiful. Putting an emphasis on beauty, aesthetics, comfort, and creating a sense of place may seem extravagant, but it’s actually a sustainable approach to development. This is one of the tenets of new urbanism, and it sets us apart from most new neighborhoods. At Union Village, we’re building homes, businesses and civic spaces that will serve generations to come.
The Union Village Guild comprises southwest Ohio’s best homebuilders who take great pride in quality architecture and craftsmanship. While leveraging their individual strengths and attributes, each builder also adheres to the Union Village Code so we create a place that is cohesive yet uniquely charming.
As you stroll through our neighborhood, you’ll notice every home has its own special character, yet belongs right where it is! Let’s take a closer look at some of the design details we love, from the front door to interesting interior elements.
Distinguished Front Doors Make A Memorable First Impression
The front door is a tribute to each home’s unique character. Doors match the architecture of the home, but are also a distinguishing feature. A short stroll along Allen Street at Union Village provides plenty of inspiration, where no two doors are exactly alike. Take a look at The Loudon. This charming cottage is graced by a glass door with muntins that authentically divide the light flowing into the front room. The round top, solid wood door of The Green Street adds a handsome and stately passage to the historically inspired home. Meanwhile, The Orchard’s custom chevron door is an enchanting entrance to a truly unique home.

Light Fixtures Brighten Up Interior Spaces
The next best thing to natural light is a beautiful and functional light fixture. There is no shortage of inspiration inside Union Village homes, and visitors often remark on the lighting choices. Here are a few illuminating examples. The linear chandelier gracing the dining area inside The Middlebury is a subtle detail that doesn’t detract from the abundant natural light in the room. Globe lighting can compliment a modern aesthetic, like the pendants shown in The Townes at Union Village. The softness of globe lighting can also fit in a more traditional interior. The multi-globe pendant inside the powder room of The Piedmont is unexpected and elegant. Sometimes, lighting makes a bold statement. The geometric lantern pendants in The Washington compliment other lighting in the home’s open floor plan.

Built-In Statements Create Character
Some of the best ideas are not new. Transom windows were historically used to allow more light and airflow in the home, without hindering privacy. It’s novel to see transom windows in a brand new home, like The Bungalow on Bailey Street. Built-in shelves and cabinets are another historically significant feature that create character and serve a purpose. These living room shelves inside The Bradford on Allen Street could contain a home library, important mementos, or simply decoration.

Bay windows, while they allow more natural light, are principally elegant. This view is entirely unique to The Green Street, a home inspired by a historic dwelling in The Oregon District of Dayton.
