Union Village Porches Stand Out with Holiday Spirit
At Union Village Ohio, we celebrate porches all year round. But there is something special about strolling through the neighborhood at Christmastime after the lampposts come on. Porches bedecked with twinkling lights and charming holiday décor lift our spirits and make us glad to be home.
In the summer, Union Village porches are a place to chat with neighbors, enjoy a good book or simply enjoy the fresh air. Large porches grace the front of nearly every home, creating a streetscape reminiscent of traditional neighborhoods. In fact, spacious porches are an important part of our award-winning master plan.
Let’s take a look at how our porches stand out with holiday spirit.
Elegantly Festive Modern Farmhouse Takes First Place
Some households at Union Village took part in our Third Annual Holiday Porch and Front Door Photo Contest. We asked officials at Turtlecreek Township to help us select first and second place, which is not an easy task! The collective creativity and talent of Villagers was on full display for this friendly competition.
In the end, this elegantly festive modern farmhouse first place. The homeowners selected a traditional and tastefully-coordinated arrangement for the holiday season. The complete look consists of evergreen garlands along the porch rail and wreaths hanging from each window, all accented by cheerful, bright red bows. The front door featuring Santa is the focal point, balanced by matching planters on each side.

A Simply Magical Winter Cottage Steals Second Place
Union Village is a neighborhood built for Simply Living, where serene streetscapes and timeless architecture elevate quality of life. Fitting just perfectly into that plan is this quietly glowing cottage, which radiates holiday magic and charm!
The homeowners took second place for this enchanting winter decor. Golden strands of light are woven together with porch garlands, wreaths and even small trees. The result is symmetrical, polished and stunning. As the sunset fades beyond, this porch makes us long to step inside for hot cocoa and carols around the fireplace!
The People Choose a Playful Porch
Rounding out the winners of our annual holiday decorating contest, this cheerful holiday look was selected for the “People’s Choice” award via Facebook fans and followers. It’s decidedly more playful and for some reason we’re craving gingerbread cookies!
This homeowner also chose a coordinated combination of warm, white lights and crisp greenery to adorn the front door and gables. Buffalo check bows add a trendy, farmhouse-inspired touch. Metal gingerbread figurines placed near the front door add subtle personality and interest to complement the gingerbread pillows placed on the rocking chairs. This is a cheerful and cozy place to watch the night sky for Santa’s sleigh!
Honorable Mentions Deserve Holiday Cheer
The style, enthusiasm and pride displayed by villagers this holiday season is all deserving of applause! Every porch is special and unique, and every bow and bit of greenery fills our hearts with gladness and joy this holiday season. Below are entries from the contest along with additional glimpses of our villages this holiday season.
