A Place to Call Home: The Piedmont at Union Village Ohio
It’s the best of two worlds. Inspired by historic architecture and utilizing the craftsmanship of today’s leading custom builders, Union Village is coming alive. A variety of one and two story homes provide a place to call home among tree-lined streets and parks.
Construction of new homes, townshomes and duplexes is underway now throughout the neighborhood. The Piedomont is one of these homes. Dave Watkins, lead sales associate for Union Village Realty, talks about this home, which is under construction and offered for sale by Union Village Realty.
This home has been a popular choice at Union Village. What do owners love about this plan?
Watkins: “Yes, this is the third version of the home. The first iteration was featured in Homearama: Lifestyle Edition in 2021. Buyers have liked the open concept in the great room while still having a defined space for the dining area. This plan also has a great deal of natural light in the great room. People have liked the spacious porches, especially the side porch, where there is a nice yard for pets. The size of kitchen pantry and the laundry room are also appreciated. The three-car garage has been popular with the buyers. I’ve heard great things about the functional layout of the second floor, with room for a desk, watching TV or gaming in the lofted area at the top of the stairs.”

Who is the homebuilder and what is their reputation?
Watkins: “Berkey Custom Homes is one of 10 custom homebuilders that belong to our Builders Guild. These are handpicked builders who share our vision for craftsmanship and design. We’re building a village that will stand the test of time so these things are important. Berkey has been been in business since 2006 and their experience and tradition predate that. The company has an outstanding reputation and I have received great feedback from buyers. They are offering a few different house plans at Union Village.“

Talk about the setting for this home. What makes it special?
Watkins: “Union Village is different than a typical subdivision. In fact, we are building a small town. The neighborhood is pedestrian centric. It's all very walkable, from the sidewalks to the rear-loading garages. You can walk with a purpose because Union Village Square is steps away. This green space where we are having live music and events will be tucked in among two and four-story buildings with restaurants and shops, offices and apartments. There are a variety of homes here, including one and two story homes. When you visit you get the sense you are in a special place.”

The neighborhood is designed to be pedestrian-friendly with tree-lined sidewalks and destinations in walking distance. Summer concerts at Union Village Square are a Friday night favorite for villagers and friends.
