Town Green Nears Completion at Union Village

Landscapers have been putting finishing touches on the 17,000-square-foot town green at Union Village. More than 2,800 rolls of sod were laid and shrubs and perennials are being planted in the park, which is situated in front of the Union Building.

The park includes a playground and a large stage for musical performances or other entertainment. It’s a small portion of the 200 acres of green space planned, which includes more parks, meadows and pathways connecting to nearby Armco Park and Warren County Sports Park.

Creating a “sense of place” and a safe, pedestrian-friendly environment are hallmarks of new urbanism. The community is planned so that residents will be able to reach most daily needs within a 10-minute walk.

The Union Building provides retail and office space and is expected to be completed in November. Construction is nearing completion on the first home at Union Village. Several builders are on site and 18 home options are available in the initial release. The homes, commercial building and parks are all part of a 1,230-acre, award-winning master plan based on the Principles of New Urbanism.
